LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD patrol function investigated a crash that involved a pedestrian struck on 02/26/2021 at 2:26 PM at the intersection of North Broad Street (SR0501) & North Lane.

A vehicle driven by Joseph W. WELZANT, age 80, of Lititz, made an illegal left turn onto North Broad Street from North Lane, and in the process of making the turn, struck a pedestrian, identified as Joan FAHS, age 72, of Muncy Valley, who was crossing North Broad Street in the marked crosswalk. No injuries were reported. Two summary traffic citations were filed against WELZANT, alleging he committed the summary traffic offenses of Obedience to Traffic-Control Devices and Right-of-Way of Pedestrians in Crosswalks. WELZANT has been summoned to respond to District Court.

WELZANT is presumed innocent.
