The LBPD announces the retirement of Officer Kenneth M. Wolfe. Officer Wolfe's last uniformed shift ended on 08/01/2020 at 7:00 PM.
The following is from the LBPD Facebook story:
Is Officer Wolfe on duty? I want to talk to Wolfie? When’s Wolfie working again? You’re not Officer Wolfe, I want to talk to Officer Wolfe…………If we had a dollar for every time someone who had come into contact with Officer Wolfe over the years has called in to talk to him as a follow up or something else Police related, or non-Police related, we’d have a lot more dollars. He has a very down to earth and approachable way of talking to people and for those reasons he’s probably one of our most popular and well-liked Officers.
How does that saying go.... it’s not goodbye, it’s see ya later! Today, at 700pm Officer Wolfe, or “Wolfie” as he is affectionately known completed his final shift with the Lititz Borough Police Department.
He has served with the LBPD since 1999. Prior to the LBPD he had served in the Air Force for 12 years. While at the LBPD he served in several roles including Accident Investigator, Crisis Intervention, K-9 Officer with K-9 Duke and K-9 Reky, and most recently he has served as the School Resource Officer. Through the years he’s also been involved with Coaching Warwick Softball, Warwick Baseball, and Warwick Football, serving as a Mentor to the youth.
While it’s unfortunate we at the LBPD are losing him to early retirement, it’s comforting to know that he’s not far away as he’ll now be working as a Police Officer with the Warwick School District Police, primarily focusing on the Elementary schools. For those of you that know Wolfie well, you’d understand this new role couldn’t be more prefect for him. He’ll miss his co-workers at the LBPD but he’s looking forward to working with all the students and staff in Warwick School District, which is similar to his role as the School Resource Officer which he’s been assigned too for the past two years now.
Wolfie has never had a problem with energy, even for someone his age. The guy can’t sit still for more than a minute, but nonetheless we are a little worried that he won’t be able to keep up with all the energy of the Elementary school kids, so as part of his retirement gift we supplied him with a few cases of Energy drinks that will hopefully last him a day or two. He’s also a big fan of Swedish Fish, so a couple of bags of those wouldn’t hurt either!
And for his other gift we grabbed him a custom Tampa Bay Lighting Jersey with his name and our Station number designation, “25” on the back of it. Hopefully he can relax and sit back with his jersey on to watch the Tampa Bay Lightning get knocked out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in relatively short order over the next week…..
When asked what his most fond moment was with the LBPD he stated it was the day he received the phone call offering him the job with the LBPD. He said he was very fortunate to have grown up in Lititz and graduated from Warwick and was able to serve the community he loves. He has received many accolades over his tenure, and is credited with a Lifesaving Award for his actions of pulling an unconscious driver from a burning vehicle following a vehicle accident.
We’ll miss ya Wolfie, but we’ll see you around!!
