July 28, 2022 – Lititz, PA – The Lititz Borough Police Department (LBPD) in partnership with the Penn Medicine Lancaster General Heath Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health is proud to announce that they will once again be participating in the #PinkPatchProject!  The #PinkPatchProject is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations and caregivers in combating the devastating disease. 

The Pink Patch Project (PPP) is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and public safety agencies across the nation. The purpose of the initiative is to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection and treatment in addition to raising funds for cancer research, treatment, and education through the sale of commemorative pink patches. 

The LBPD became the 103rd law enforcement agency to join the PPP in 2017.  The PPP continues to grow as more agencies are added almost daily.  In 2021, participating Pink Patch agencies raised over $1,000,000 dollars, all of which was donated to various organizations that support breast cancer research, awareness, or support.   The LBPD was able to donate more than $1,900 dollars to the Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health in 2021 bringing our 5-year total to over $15,000!  More and more Lancaster County Agencies have joined the cause and together we have been able to raise more than $36,000 for the Breast Center. 

The 2022 LBPD Pink Patch was redesigned in an Americana theme celebrating the rich history of July 4th celebrations in Lititz.  The top of the 2022 LBPD Pink Patch is adorned with stars as pink and silver stripes fill out the center.  The very middle of the patch shows the iconic symbol of Lititz Borough, the spring head in the Lititz Springs Park.   

The LBPD understands that early detection is the key to winning the fight against this devastating disease, which is why we’ve again partnered Penn Medicine Lancaster General Heath Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health.  The Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health is a state-of-the-art facility right here in Lancaster.   They provide patients with convenient, coordinated access to a wide range of breast health and imaging resources, including 3D mammograms so Doctors can “see it, before you feel it.”  

During the month of October, LBPD Officers that fulfill the donation requirement will be wearing pink patches on their regular police uniforms to stimulate conversation with the community and to encourage discussion with the public about the importance of early detection and treatment in the ongoing fight against the disease. The LBPD will be selling the commemorative pink patches through the end of October, with all of the proceeds going to the Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health in their ongoing efforts to provide women with convenient, coordinated access to a wide range of breast health and imaging resources. 

Along with the patches, The LBPD will also be selling Pink Patch stickers. The stickers are a high-quality vinyl rendering of the 2019 LBPD Pink Patch.  Patches and stickers will be available in our lobby and online.  2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 Patches will be on sale for $11 and 2018 Patches will be $6 or they can be purchased in our lobby for $1 dollar less.   To order your patches online by clicking the link here or navigate to the Patch Store on LititzPD.org.
