LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD is releasing agency data for the reporting period of Q1 of 2023, detailing the distribution of LBPD criminal arrest and traffic citation data by race, ethnicity and sex compared against the Census data (V2022). There is no legal requirement for the LBPD to make this information available; however, the LBPD elects to post this information for immediate public access and review.
The Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) requires an annual review of bias-based policing data as an element of the Accreditation standard for Accredited agencies. The LBPD elects to exceed this standard by conducting the review more-frequently, on a quarterly basis. The LBPD maintains a written directive surrounding the prohibition against bias-based policing. That written directive, LBPD General Order 1.8.3 (related to Bias-Based Policing Prohibition), is available for instant public access and review by clicking here.
This quarterly analysis is available as an embedded PDF attached to this post, but is also available in the bias-based policing analysis repository contained at LititzPD.org. This repository can be found under the "PUBLIC INFO" drop-down. .
Bias-based police (also known as "racial profiling or bias-based profiling), is any traffic stop, field contact, vehicle search, asset seizure/forfeiture, or enforcement action based solely on a common trait of a group. Common traits include, but are not limited to, race, ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, religion, economic status, age, or cultural group.
