LITITZ BOROUGH - The utilization of technology gives the LBPD an important opportunity to fully engage and educate the Lititz community. It also allows the agency to receive public information and to co-produce public safety with the community. Technology changes quickly. Law enforcement leaders must identify, assess, and evaluate new technologies that will improve effectiveness, efficiency, and evolution, while satisfying competing interests. The LBPD utilizes the CRIMEWATCH platform for this purpose. LititzPD.org positions the agency to communicate high-quality information through several mediums, with LititzPD.org centered as the hub. The sharing of news posts, events, cases, incidents, and arrests; along with automated webforms to allow community members to efficiently submit tips, information, and other data, positions the agency to maximize the use of technology for public safety.

CRIMEWATCH recently compared Part I clearance rates of their customers, identified those CRIMEWATCH agencies with the highest clearance rates, and compared them to average clearance rates of other agencies and the average for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Their analysis showed the LBPD as having the second-highest Part I offense clearance rate among those agencies who utilize CRIMEWATCH. The attached reporting graphics have been supplied to the LBPD by CRIMEWATCH.

In CY2022, LititzPD.org received 100,289 visits, 214 webform engagements, and 431,510 total engagements of all types. The LBPD recognizes the role that technology plays in public safety and continues to leverage LititzPD.org for that purpose.
