Lititz Borough - The LBPD is reminding drivers of the dangers of Distracted Driving. April Is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 3,142 people were killed in 2019 as a result of Distracted Driving.
To combat this issue, the LBPD and NHTSA recommend taking the following actions;
- Remind your friends and family: If you’re in the driver’s seat, it’s the only thing you should be doing. No distractions.
- Set the example, let your family and friends see you not allowing distractions to interfere with your driving.
- Offer to send messages or answer phone calls for drivers.
- If your driver is texting or otherwise distracted, tell them to stop and focus on the road.
- Set your phone to 'Do Not Disturb' while driving.
- Ask your friends to join you in pledging not to drive distracted. You could save a life. Share your pledge on social media to spread the word — #JustDrive
