LITITZ BOROUGH - Motorists and pedestrians should expect significant interruptions to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on East Main Street (SR0772) in the Downtown District between Broad Street & Cedar Street, starting March 17th.
Curb and sidewalk replacement work is being performed in anticipation of repaving which is tentatively scheduled to occur in 2022. The curb and sidewalk work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 17th and last until approximately the end of May, but this work is weather-dependent. During this time of improvement, portions of the sidewalk and roadway will be closed for use. Signage and traffic-control will be in place for impacts which affect vehicular and pedestrian movement and access. Motorists should expect lane shifting during portions of the work. When this occurs, flaggers will be available to direct motorists.
The Downtown District will be open during the work and attempts to minimize specific closures will be made, where possible.
During the improvement period, parking restrictions will be established on East Main Street. Parking meters will be bagged with "no parking" bags for the entire duration of work, but parking will be permitted during the following hours when work is not occurring:
EVENINGS (Monday through Thursday): From 6:00 PM until 6:00 AM.
WEEKENDS: Fridays at 4:00 PM until Mondays at 6:00 AM.
Any vehicles which are left parked on the street after 6:00 AM on weekdays will be towed.
During this improvement period, downtown businesses will be open. It is suggested that you contact the business to inquire about any adjustments to their hours and/or access. Communication has been made through Venture Lititz about this work. LBPD patrol officers have been made aware of this work, and will be alert to vehicular and pedestrian concerns. It is suggested that motorists be aware of this work, plan alternate travel routes if possible, and allow for extra travel time if you must utilize East Main Street.
