Police Incidents from 10/19/15-10/20/15

SUSPICUOUS ACTIVITY:  On 10/19/15 at 1349 hours EHTPD were notified that a suspicious white Toyota, bearing VA registration plates was seen driving through the 800 block of Corvair Rd.  Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING:  On 10/19/15 at 1727 hours EHTPD were advised by Ryan Treadway that his son’s Razor Electric Scooter, valued at $120.00 was taken from the driveway of 130 Ann Ave.
THEFT BY DECEPTION:  On 10/19/15 at 1716 hours EHTPD were contacted by J. William regarding two males that had agreed to take care of yard debris at 636 Gentry Dr. resulting from the tornado.  The males were paid $475.00 but did not return to do the promised work.  Investigation continuing. 
HARASSMENT BY COMMUNICATION:  On 10/19/15 at 1808 hours EHTPD took a report from E. Melendez who reported that her ex-boyfriend continues to send her unwanted text messages.  Investigation continuing. 
IRS SCAM:  On 10/20/15 at 1410 hours EHTPD received a call from B. Condron who reported that he had received a call from individuals claiming to be from the IRS.  Money was demanded and threats of arrest were made.  NOTE:  This is the IRS scam that has been very common.  The IRS will NOT call you demanding money.  All correspondence will be via mail. 
PHONE SCAM:  On 10/20/15 EHTPD were contacted by P. Schmidt regarding a phone call he received from individuals claiming they were from the US Embassy demanding money to help get his grandson out of jail.  NOTE:  This is an old scam used to have victims to send monies via wire transfer using fear and manipulation.
THEFT OF LEASED PROPERTY:  On 10/20/15 A. Berrios, manager of Aaron’s, 107 Rohrestown Rd. reported to EHTPD that a customer had rented items and had not paid or returned said items.  The items included a 50” LG Television and Home Theater Rack valued at $1,409.98.  Investigation continuing. 
THEFT OF LEASED PROPERTY:    On 10/20/15 A. Berrios, manager of Aaron’s, 107 Rohrestown Rd. reported to EHTPD that several customers had rented items and had not paid or returned said items.  The item is a 49” LG Ultra HD Television valued at $1,217.06.  Investigation continuing.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:  On 10/20/15 at 1736 hours homeowner, J. Hawk, reported to EHTPD that someone had damaged four (4) bamboo stalks on his property, 333 Bethel Dr.  Damage valued at $20.00.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:  On 10/20/15 EHTPD responded to a disturbance at 1321 Shreiner Station Rd. Apt. 108 where a broken glass sliding door was found to have been broken by one of the actors.  Investigation continuing.  Dollar value unknown for damages at this time.
