K9 - VALOR!!!
We are excited to introduce our newest department member, Valor. On December 22nd we were awarded Valor by Alpha Pack Veteran K9s Unleashed. Six pups were generously donated by a well-known local breeder to be trained and put into service as police trauma dogs. We are one of three departments that have decided to start a trauma dog program.
Law enforcement is faced with countless traumatic events on daily basis, each K9 will be able to provide peer support, morale and promote mental health awareness internally for each agency, as well as provide emotional support for victims of crimes, and be utilized to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the communities we serve.
ABC27 news will be following the dogs throughout their training. They aired this segment last Friday.
