At 11:39 a.m., on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021, the Manheim Township Police were dispatched to the ramp from Route 283 East to Manheim Pike for a one-vehicle roll-over crash. Officers determined a vehicle traveled south along the ramp between Manheim Pike and Route 283 East, struck a cement barrier (k-rail), and rolled over onto the grass, alongside the ramp. The driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, sustained serious injuries in the crash and needed to be mechanically extricated from the vehicle. The driver was taken to an area hospital to treat injuries sustained in the crash. No other vehicles or persons were involved in this crash.
Manheim Township Fire Rescue, Lancaster City Fire Department, and PennDOT all responded to the scene to assist. The roadway was shut for approximately one hour. The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.
