On July 13, 2020, three Manheim Township Police Officers were promoted during a meeting of the Manheim Township Board of Commissioners. Following an oath of office by Board President Sam Mecum, they were presented with their new badges by Chief of Police Thomas Rudzinski.
Brian Freysz was promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant. Lieutenant Freysz has been a resident of Manheim Township since 1977. After serving in the US Navy, he joined the Manheim Township Police Department in 2000. He was appointed to the position of Detective in 2005, and was promoted to Sergeant in 2017. Freysz has been assigned as the Commander of the Special Operations Division.
Samuel Echternach was promoted to Sergeant. He has been a lifelong resident of Lancaster County and joined the Manheim Township Police Department in 2006. He has been the acting Sergeant of First Platoon and will now continue as the Sergeant of the same platoon.
Randy Nolt was promoted to Sergeant. He has been a lifelong resident of Lancaster County and joined the Manheim Township Police Department in 2009. In 2014, he received the Meritorious Award for his actions at the scene of a domestic-related stabbing. That same year, he received the Lifesaving Award for saving the life of a woman who was in cardiac arrest. He was Officer of the Year in 2016. Sergeant Nolt has been assigned as the Sergeant of Third Platoon.
