Manheim Township Police Officers
join forces with Wayne’s Towing to collect items for Ukrainian refugees and military
LANCASTER, Penna. (March 29th, 2022) – On Saturday, April 16th, 2022 the Manheim Township Police Department will join forces with Wayne’s Towing, in an effort to provide aid to displaced Ukrainians and active military members.
Local residents and community members are being encouraged to bring donations to our “Fill the Truck” event on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 2-5 p.m. The event will be held at Wayne’s Towing, located at 5199 Main Street East Petersburg, Pa 17520. Manheim Township Police will be on hand for a meet and greet, and to help load donations into our truck. Hot dogs and light refreshments will be provided as our way of saying, “Thanks!” The following items will be accepted;
Humanitarian aid items
Diapers (all sizes)
Wet baby wipes
All types of baby food
All types of dry food
Hygiene items (adult, kids, and babies)
New underwear (male, kids, female)
New socks (male, kids, female)
Baby Diaper rash cream
Bandages
Medicine adults and kids (diarrhea, Tylenol, ibuprofen, eye drops, ear drops, allergy, hydrocortisone cream, gauze pads, aspirin, antibacterial ointment)
All types of baby swaddle.
Mouthpiece for giving CPR.
In addition, the Manheim Township police officers are challenging other local law enforcement officers to get involved, by donating some of the more urgent items. The West Hempfield Police Department has donated 11 used ballistic vests for the event. Other Police agencies can attend the event on April 16th, 2022 or make other arrangements to donate the following items;

Officer Michele Klinger, an 18-year veteran of the Manheim Township Police Department, organized the event after seeing a need for help. With a clear mission in mind, Officer Klinger contacted officials of the Saint Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church and worked alongside Kim McDade of Wayne’s Towing, organizing the event. Officer Klinger hopes to see the community come together and support the men, women, and children affected by the unfortunate events in Ukraine.
All donations will be turned over to the Saint Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church, to facilitate delivery at the conclusion of the event.
