As we approach the July 4th weekend celebrations, the Manheim Township Police would like to remind our residents and visitors of the rules surrounding the use of consumer-grade fireworks.
In 2021 the Manheim Township Commissioners passed ordinance 261-6, "Consumer fireworks regulations." As a reminder, this allows consumer fireworks to be used only on specific dates and times. For this holiday, the allowable time is Tuesday, July 4th, from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm.
There are also 12 prohibitions on where and how these fireworks may be ignited. For the complete list, you may check out the ordinance here.
Based upon the above, there are very few locations within Manheim Township where the discharging of "consumer fireworks" would be legal. Remember - the SALE of the fireworks may be legal, but their USE may not be. Please be sure to be neighborly and follow the above laws.
