On Friday 8/21/15, ELTPD Officer Bryan Kondras filed charges against Patricia J. HALGASH, age 42, of Land O' Lakes FL, as a result of the investigation of the 3/13/15 fatal vehicle accident at Old Philadelphia Pike and Chateau Hill, East Lampeter Twp.
On 3/13/14, ELTPD responded to a two vehicle collision in the 1800 blk of Old Philadelphia Pike. Arriving officers determined the collision involved a 2008 Mercedes C300 and a 1978 Chevrolet Caprice. The Chevrolet was being operated by Sharon M. Mulhatten, age 71, of Lancaster. Troy M. Mulhatten, age 52, of Lancaster, was a front seat passenger of the Chevrolet. Both were confined within the vehicle. The Defendant, Patricia HALGASH, was identified as the driver of the Mercedes. Investigation determined that the Mercedes, driven by HALGASH, was traveling eastbound on Old Philadelphia Pike. The Mercedes veered to the right out of the lane of travel and struck the curb in the northeast corner of the intersection with Chateau Hill. The Mercedes careened back across the roadway into the oncoming westbound lane of Old Philadelphia Pike and struck the Chevrolet Caprice nearly head on. Both occupants of the Chevrolet sustained serious bodily injuries from the collision and required extrication from the vehicle. Sharon Mulhatten was pronounced dead at Lancaster General Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. HALGASH sustained minor injuries from the collision.
Officer Kondras charged HALGASH with one count each of Homicide by Vehicle (F-3), Homicide by Vehicle While under the Influence (F-2), Aggravated Assault by Vehicle (F-3), Aggravated Assault by Vehicle While Driving Under the Influence (F-2), Driving Under the Influence- General Impairment (M), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance (M), and Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic (S). HALGASH was arraigned before MDJ B. Denise Commins and was released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
