At 07:40am on December 6, 2021 East Lampeter Township Police responded to the 2900 block of Lincoln Hwy East for a report of a serious two (2) vehicle crash. Preliminary investigation determined that for unknown reasons, a westbound 2020 black Ford Escape had crossed over into the opposing lane striking an eastbound white 2001 Volvo VNL truck tractor pulling a trailer. After impact, the truck drove off the shoulder of the roadway impacting a utility pole and embankment. Both vehicles sustained major, disabling damage.
The occupants of the Ford were entrapped in the vehicle and required extrication by members of Ronks Fire Company. The driver, 24 year-old Tyeanna Monae Morris of Hummelstown, PA and front seat passenger, 22 year-old Tyjmere Edwards of Philadelphia, PA were both transported to Lancaster General Hospital for injuries. Morris was later pronounced deceased. Edwards was admitted to the hospital in stable condition. The driver and sole occupant of the Volvo, 45 year-old Maciej Gasienica-Sobczak of Chicago was not injured.
The roadway remained fully closed for approximately 3 hours and traffic control was in place for continued work until nearly 3pm. The crash remains under investigation, anyone with information is asked to contact East Lampeter Township Police Department, Sergeant Bryan Kondras is the lead investigator. The East Lampeter Township Police Department was assisted at the scene by: Ronks VFC, Gordonville Ambulance, Lancaster EMS (LEMSA), PPL, and members of the Lancaster County Major Crash Team (East Hempfield PD, Manor Twp PD, West Lampeter Twp PD).
