On 12/11/15, a female victim reported that she was a victim of a telephone scam.   Victim reported that a male telephoned her and informed her that she was to receive a free grant of $9,000 to pay medical bills.   The victim was instructed send $200 by MoneyGram to Florida to receive the grant.  The victim then received a second call requesting another $500 by MoneyGram to receive the grant, which the victim complied with.   MoneyGram notified the victim that the situation was a scam after the victim received a third call and attempted to send a third payment of $780.    Obvious flags of this type of telephone scam are to receive free money that was not applied for, the need to pay a fee to receive the free money, the use of money transfer company, such as MoneyGram, as the only method of payment for the fees, and the need to quickly send the fees to another state or country.
