At 9:55 pm, Tuesday, 8/4/15, ELTPD Officer Matthew Hess attempted to stop two ninja style sport motorcycles, with male drivers, for illegal passing eastbound in the 100 blk of W. Main St. Leola. The motorcycles stopped for a traffic Flagman in an active construction zone. Ofc Hess pulled along side the motorcycles with emergency lights activated and signaled the drivers to pull over. Both motorcycle drivers failed to obey and accelerated past the Flagman into a restricted area of the construction zone. The motorcycles weaved through the active construction zone at high speeds. The motorcycles continued to flee at extreme speeds and speed through intersections posted with stop signs on secondary roads in Upper Leacock Twp and into East Lampeter Twp. At the intersection of Horseshoe Rd and Mt Sidney Rd the motorcycles spilt up with one traveling south on Mt Sidney Rd and the other continuing south on Horseshoe Rd. The pursuit was continued of the motorcycle on Mt Sidney Rd, which continued onto Old Philadelphia Pike. After accelerating to extreme speeds on Old Philadelphia Pike the driver yielded in the 2800 blk. The driver was identified as Calvin Lee LAPP, age 26, of New Holland, and was operating a blue an silver Suzuki Katana 600 motorcycle. LAPP was charged with Felony Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Police Officer and multiple traffic violations, then taken for arraignment at Central Booking. The second motorcycle driver, who was operating a similar style motorcycle, was not apprehended and his identity is not known at this time.
