Phishing Scheme: Please be aware of a scheme in which a “hacker” sends a text message identifying themselves as an “Apple” IT employee. The hacker indicates the users Apple cloud has been compromised and the user needs to contact him to fix the issue. Unsuspecting users contact the hacker and provide information which allows the hacker access to personal computers to “fix” the problem. The hacker gains access to personal information or if unsuccessful pretends to "fix" the issue and then requires the user to purchase gift cards for payment. Please speak with family members and friends to ensure they do not fall for such schemes.
Anytime unknown persons requests payment via gift card, green dot, etc. be cautious and suspicious. These are generally scams and should be avoided. Legitimate service for work performed is generally billed by the service provider to the customer.
