A winter weather advisory has been issued for Monday for much of central Pennsylvania as the first accumulation of snowfall of the season approaches. A Warning indicates that conditions pose a threat to life or property, and that travel will become difficult to impossible. An Advisory indicates conditions pose a significant inconvenience, and if caution is not exercised, could lead to situations that may threaten life and/or property.
The National Weather Service at State College issued the advisory for Dauphin, Cumberland, Franklin, Lebanon, Adams, York and Lancaster counties from 6 a.m. to 4 pm. Monday. A mix of rain and snow can be expected then, mainly before 1 p.m. We could see some heavy snow at times, falling at a rate of up 1 inch per hour, particularly south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the late morning or early afternoon.
