On Wednesday. May 25, 2022, @ 09:49 AM NLCRPD Officers attempted to serve a warrant on Raul SANTOS of Clay Township for charges associated with Domestic Assault. Officers located SANTOS inside of his vehicle on Agape Drive, Clay Township. When officers instructed SANTOS to exit the vehicle: SANTO refused and drove off, dragging one of the Officers for several feet. SANTOS fled the area at a high rate of speed subsequently crashing his vehicle into a parked car a few blocks away. SANTOS then fled on foot. With the assistance of Ephrata Borough Police, Officers searched the area. SANTOS was found hiding under the porch of a nearby home and was taken into police custody without further incident.
Aside from the original domestic assault charges, SANTOS was transported to NLCRPD and was processed on charges associated with Felony Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and fleeing and alluding apprehension. SANTOS was arraigned in front of MDJ Tony Russell and released to the custody of the Lancaster County Prison to await a preliminary hearing. The Officer assaulted escaped injury in the encounter and returned to duty.
