On Wednesday June 30, 2021 @ 1724 hours the NLCRPD was dispatched to the intersection of Furnace Hills Pike and West Lexington Road for the report of a vehicle crash with entrapment. Both the Fire Department and EMS were also dispatched to the scene.
On arrival police discovered that three vehicles had been involved; A 2011 black Toyota Avalon operated by 17 YOA Juvenile female of Lancaster, a 2004 Buick Century operated by Lori Cauler of Lititz, and a 2001 Dodge Ram truck operated by Cecily Sedlak of Myerstown.
When Officers arrived, two passengers in the Toyota appeared to be trapped inside the vehicle. Both occupants were removed with the assistance from the responding Lititz Fire Department. All occupants involved were evaluated by EMS. The passengers of the Toyota and driver of the Buick were transported by ambulance to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment. All other occupants were later released from the scene.
From statements of those involved and evidence on scene it was determined that the operator of the Toyota had been traveling East Bound on West Lexington Road and stopped at the posted stop sign at intersecting Furnace Hills Pike (SR501). The operator of the Toyota, failing to observe oncoming traffic, failed to yield the right-o-way to traffic moving north and south on SR501, pulled into the intersection, and was struck by the 2004 Buick, traveling south bound on SR501, then sustained a second impact, from the Dodge truck, traveling north bound on SR501.
All vehicles involved were later towed from the scene by Weaver’s Towing Service.
The juvenile operator of the Toyota is being charged with a violation associated with failing to obey duties at a posted stop sign.
