July 8, 2022, @ 3:50 PM NLCRPD responded to a vehicle accident on SR501 near Farm Lane.  The preliminary investigation revealed that a maroon Toyota minivan had been traveling northbound on Furnace Hills Pike when the operator reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle left the roadway, veered through a front lawn of a local resident, struck a mailbox, then ran into a second vehicle, described as a red Ford Crown Victoria, that was stopped at the stop sign on Farm Lane waiting to enter 501. The driver of Ford was transported to the hospital for additional evaluation and treatment. Charges, associated with careless driving resulting in serious bodily injury and driving on roadways laned for traffic, have been filed against the operator of the Toyota.
