A 17-year-old juvenile is in the Youth Development Center after his arrest this afternoon for burglary and other offenses at a residence in Penn Township. NLCRPD patrols were dispatched to an address in the 700 block of Pond Vista Lane for a disturbance in progress at 15:55 hours on 02/10/2020.
Arriving NLCRPD patrols determined that a 17-year-old male had forced entry into the occupied home by smashing out a door, occupants of the home were trying to hide to avoid detection by the offender who was known to the occupants and threatening them with harm. The subject was immediately taken into custody without incident by the responding NLCRPD patrol officers.
Investigation determined that the subject was already on a home monitoring system and home detention as a result of a previous juvenile conviction. The Lancaster County Department of Juvenile Probation Department directed that the juvenile be committed into a secure detention facility for the violations concerning his existing probation. In addition, the subject now faces additional new charges filed by the NLCRPD in a juvenile allegation for a felony occupied dwelling burglary, terroristic threats, intimidation of witnesses and other offenses.
Since the subject is under the age of 18 years of age, the NLCRPD is prohibited from releasing of the name of the offender. There were no injuries reported in connection with the incident and there was no estimate of damages available for the property damage sustained during the felonious forcible home entry by the defendant.
