On November 13th, 2021, at approximately 0616 hours NLCRPD patrols were dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the area of Fruitville Pike and Temperance Hill, Manheim PA 17545, Penn Township. LCWC dispatch advised the caller stated he observed a vehicle crashed into a barn. He did not stop and render aid and was unaware if anyone was inside the vehicle.
Upon arrival on scene, the NLCRPD responding patrols located the vehicle facing North at 453 Fruitville Pike. The vehicle sustained heavy disabling damage on all vehicle body surfaces. The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage; the vehicle also sustained damage to the roof of the vehicle. NLCRPD patrols observed a white female slumped over in the driver seat of the vehicle. EMS arrived shortly finding the female responsive. Fire arrived on scene and extricated the female operator out of the vehicle by mechanical means. The barn that was struck sustained severe damage as well. A mailbox on the property was also damaged along with damage to the grass in front of the barn. The female was transported from the scene to Lancaster General Hospital via Northwest EMS with unknown injuries.
The vehicle a 2007 Toyota Yaris, was operated by a subject who was identified via Pennsylvania driver’s license as Shelby Tamara Hummer, age 22 of an address in the 2100 block of Hossler Rd, Manheim PA 17545, The vehicle was towed from the scene. Hummer remains at Lancaster General Hospital being treated for multiple trauma related injuries. NLCRPD Crash Reconstructionist team members will be conducting further investigation at the scene of the crash. The contributing factors and cause of the crash will be provided when final determinations and the investigation is completed. No further information will be made available for release.
