On December 23rd,2022, two NLCRPD officers were dispatched responded to a Sheetz Store in Penn Township for a reported trespassing. Upon arrival officers met with an individual who was trying to panhandle at the location. The individual reported that he was homeless and had no place to go. The outside temperature had dropped into the low single digits with a negative 15 wind chill. One of the responding NLCRPD officer offered to purchase food for the man, and while anther NLCRPD patrol officer informed that he would rent a room for him at local hotel for two nights. While the typical portrayal of police in the media is much different than this narrative, this story reflects another example of the kindness and compassion of police officers displayed daily across our chosen profession. Thank you for the continued support of community members in need, especially during the holiday season.
