The initial Executive Order and designation of essential businesses by the Office of the Governor initially excluded dry cleaning operations from operation and service delivery. This placed the NLCRPD in a rather unique position. Our agency uniforms require dry cleaning to provide the most cost-effective care and maximum life span of the uniform. This standard of care also meets the appearance standards for professional law enforcement agencies. As a result of the closure and prior to obtaining of exemptions for service providers, the NLCRPD transitioned to a basic utility - training / special services uniform.
Today with the availability of dry-cleaning services to the agency, the NLCRPD marks the first day of transition back to the utilization of the designated summer "A" uniform matching the standards contained within the NLCRPD Police Guide - written directives manual. In order to facilitate the wear and use of masks by the officers, the agency directive and regulation related to wearing of uniform hats by has been amended to limit the required utilization by officers.
