The images of the arrest and subsequent death of Tyre Nichols have been made public. After days of intense public discussion, speculation by pundits, and media coverage the imagery is finally public. The speculation ends and we all know what we saw. While we may reach different conclusions, one common theme is there was simply a lack of humanity and adherence to duty. These acts were undoubtedly graphic, brutal, incomprehensible, and criminal. Those officers responsible for these acts have been arrested, charged criminally, and terminated from employment. They will individually and collectively face the charges in a court of law as well as the court of public opinion. Attached to this statement is a copy of the statement provided on behalf of the Lancaster County Chiefs of Police Association and links to statements issued by the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
