The NLCRPD has had several inquiries concerning the recent rash of unemployment fraud and other fraud reporting. Many persons asked if there was any noticeable decrease in the reporting of fraud and fraud related activities. A data analysis of those crimes related to all fraud – including the unemployment fraud scheme is provided in the chart attached to this release.

The simple answer is that decreased reporting is still at higher-than-normal levels and citizens must remain vigilant in monitoring all their fiscal transactions and banking and credit card statements. Anyone who is a resident of Clay Township, Penn Township, Warwick Township, and the Borough of East Petersburg who has experienced a fraud or a potential unreported fraud is encouraged to report the crime to the NLCRPD.
