Northern Lancaster County Regional Police would like to congratulate Detective Eric Zimmerman on earning a lifetime achievement award. The award was presented to Detective Zimmerman on Sunday May 19th, 2024 during National Police Week at the West Willow United Methodist Church during their annual police prayer ceremony.
Detective Zimmerman is an Ephrata High School Graduate after which he proudly served in the United States Marine Corp for 4 years earning the rank of corporal. In the late 1980’s Eric Zimmerman joined the Warwick Township Police Department where he served his early career as a patrolman. He was later assigned to the Lancaster County Drug Task Force where he was instrumental in taking drugs off the streets here in Lancaster County.
Having completed his time with the Lancaster County Drug Task Force, by the early 2000’s Detective Zimmerman was back at the Warwick Township Police Department. He spent a short time as a field training officer and then was quickly assigned as the department’s detective. In 2012 Warwick Township Police Department, joined forces with Clay Township, and Penn Township to form the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department. Detective Zimmerman was the first person to fill the role of detective for the department. Over the last decade NLCRPD has added more detectives to form the criminal investigation division. Detective Eric Zimmerman has been instrumental in helping to grow the CID unit.
Over his 34 year career Detective Eric Zimmerman has helped countless people and victims of crime and in many investigations has been their voice when they no longer had one. This year will be Detective Zimmerman’s last year serving with the NLCRPD as he is honorably retiring. His wealth of knowledge, experience, and his ability to remain calm during chaos will be greatly missed. This award is well deserved, and Detective Eric Zimmerman will be greatly missed.
