On January 9, 2023, Act 71 of 2022 took effect. This Act amends the Crimes Victim’s Act clarifies victims’ rights with respect to bail in Personal Injury Crimes, Crimes of Violence, Sexual Abuse of Children and Sexual Exploitation of Children. Under Act 71 “the right not to be excluded . . . shall afford the victim the right to offer comment regarding a defendant’s bail conditions at the time that bail conditions are imposed or at any subsequent proceeding where bail conditions may be modified.” 18 P.S. § 11.201(2.1)(iii).
