Reporting party called for NLCRPD police services in reference to her Social Security number being used by unauthorized persons. Caller reported that several days ago, she received two letters from a local bank. The first letter advised that she had declined overdraft charge protection. The second letter was from the same bank Fraud Department advising that an account was opened. Reporting party went to the local bank. She discussed this issue with employees, who advised her that an account has been opened in her name. They advised this account used her social security number which she confirmed was hers. They then closed this account and they recommended her calling 911 to file a report. NLCRPD provided reporting assistance and incident numbers and advised of identity theft protection measures.
