NLCRPD received an incident dispatch from LCWC regarding a fraud report. The reporting party stated that she was a victim of unemployment fraud back in October of 2022. Recently she received a scam phone call from someone claiming to be a border patrol that stated they found a package with narcotics linked to her and had a warrant as a result of this that she needed to pay an associated handling and disposal fee. NLCRPD advised that this was a scam, and they would request payment to remove the warrant and to discontinue contact with the callers, also NLCRPD provided her with the resources to monitor her credit for abnormal activities to know if she may be a victim of identity fraud or not. This information was acknowledged, and NLCRPD contact was concluded.
