On August 28, 2025, at approximately 6:39 PM, the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department (NLCRPD) responded to a report of a bicycle versus vehicle crash near 70 Church Street in Warwick Township's Forney Field area.
A 16-year-old male juvenile operating an electric bicycle and a 17-year-old male juvenile operating a 2006 Toyota minivan collided on the roadway. The bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The NLCRPD extends sincere condolences to the young man's family and friends.
The juvenile operator of the minivan was cooperative with the police department, taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment, and released.
The NLCRPD Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is conducting a full investigation. Preliminary information suggests the minivan was traveling south on Church Street when the bicyclist exited the park and rode into the minivan's lane of travel. The driver of the minivan appears to have attempted to avoid the bicyclist but was unable to do so, potentially resulting in the crash. Additional information and results of the investigation will be released when appropriate.
Investigations into accidents involving serious injury or death take time. Investigators work diligently to ensure all facts, evidence, and associated details are revealed to help determine the outcomes of what occurred and determine if any associated citations or charges are appropriate and applicable in every case.
The NLCRPD thanks the Lancaster County Northeast Crash Team and Lancaster County District Attorney's Office for their direction, assistance, and continued collaboration.
With the increase of electric vehicles and pedestrian traffic in our area, the NLCRPD cautions both vehicle drivers, bicyclists, and electric vehicle operators to use caution and be courteous to others when driving on our community roadways.
