Narrative: On the date of July 18th, 2021, LCWC advised NLCRPD of a caller who reported that several juveniles were riding 4-wheelers and dirt bikes in the area off Graystone Road in the 2200 block. Upon arrival in the area the NLCRPD patrol noticed several children on the South sidewalk in the 2200 block of Graystone Road. Just behind them on the South side of this roadway, is a common area with a walking trail that leads to Constitution Park. There is a posted sign here that reads 'No Motorized Vehicles.' The reporting NLCRPD patrol officer reported that he could see in this grass area there was tire marks made by a 4-wheeler and dirt bike.
The patrol noticed a juvenile male on a red dirt bike, and a juvenile female on a blue 4-wheeler. I motioned for these juveniles to come towards me and began speaking with them. A woman, who self-identified and approached the patrol and advised she was the children's mother.
The Officer advised that motorized vehicles were not permitted to be ridden where her children were riding them and showed her this sign mentioned above, which was several yards away. The NLCPRD patrol officer administered the mother a verbal warning to not allow this to happen again, or she would be cited accordingly. The parent acknowledged this. According to the reporting officer these children, were in the age range of 8-12. Both the 4-wheeler and dirt bike were small and appeared to be made for juveniles. The NLCRPD Officer determined that verbal warning was sufficient for a first offense of this nature. Nothing further to report.
