The NLCRPD is providing an update to assuage any community concerns over school safety in the aftermath of recent national tragedies featured in the headlines of the day. NLCRPD has reviewed and adjusted data based directed patrol and resource allocation to address this issue.
This means there will be continued active and passive measures as previously implemented by the NLCRPD to assure the highest degree of community safety. It is critical to understand that these responses by the NLCRPD are not a “band aid” approach, but part of a long term planned strategy already in motion. The NLCRPD is committed to interdisciplinary cooperation between key stakeholders in the social services, educational, and law enforcement community. The NLCRPD also has nearly a 100 % CIT training rate to meet the challenges associated with an effective response to persons in crisis. An essential part of the NLCRPD agency response is a CATO trained agency member to assess threats and develop a unified strategy to address emergent and current threats.
These ongoing measures apply to all the facilities located within the NLCRPD primary jurisdiction that are private or part of the Manheim Central, Ephrata, Hempfield, and Warwick School Districts.
