The NLCRPD and other local police department's have heard the "Warrant for Your Arrest" scam is back in Lancaster County! The scammers use a spoof phone number that is the actual phone number for the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office that displays on your caller ID. The scammer then uses the name of an actual Lancaster County Police Officer (likely pulling names from Police webpages) and tells the citizen there is a warrant for their arrest and they can avoid jail time by purchasing gift cards at a CVS (or other retail business) in the amount of $1,000.00 or more. Sheriff Departments and Police Departments absolutely do not ask for gift cards, money over the phone or even call a wanted person prior to serving a real warrant. Please stay vigilant and simply hang-up on these scammers!!
