A Lancaster city man was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison last Friday by Lancaster County Judge Thomas Sponaugle after pleading guilty to aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, recklessly endangering another person, and discharge of firearms.
Sackiwa Ntuli, 19 of the 500 block of Pershing Avenue, accepted guilt for his role in a shooting in the 100 block of Dauphin Street that left a 15-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the head on Jan. 7, 2023, around 1:30 p.m.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and survived.
On Feb. 23, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Lancaster City Bureau of Police Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of East Orange St. for a report of suspicious activity. The caller reported seeing several juvenile males wearing all black and masks run into a residence on the block.
Officers located several males, one of whom was observed carrying a firearm, inside the residence. Officers quickly secured the scene and safely detained all males involved.
The officers located and took Ntuli into custody after finding him hiding on a second floor roof during their search of the residence.
Co-defendant Charles Freeman pleaded guilty in February and was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison. The third co-defendant, Jose Ramos, has a pending case.
Assistant District Attorney Janie Swinehart prosecuted the case.
Lancaster City Bureau of Police Officer James Boas filed charges.
