A Lancaster city man charged with criminal attempted homicide and aggravated assault in a stabbing occurring in 2020 pleaded guilty this week.
Anton Callaham, 43 of the 100 block of East Liberty Street, was sentenced to 7 ½ to 15 years in prison after stabbing a 38-year-old male victim also in the 100 block of East Liberty Street and pleading guilty to the felony charge of aggravated assault.
On April 24, 2020, around 5:14 a.m., Lancaster City Bureau of Police responded to the 900 block of Lititz Avenue for the report of a stabbing. A resident in the area reported the male victim had knocked on their door yelling for help. The victim had multiple stab wounds and lacerations to the torso.
After canvassing and reviewing video footage from nearby houses, detectives identified Callaham as a suspect and arrested him the next day.
The victim identified Callaham through a photo lineup; the defendant was known to the victim as “Vegas” and was also identified as a black male with dreadlocks. Callaham had a phone number registered to him with a Las Vegas area code.
Officers were informed that Callaham drove a dark-colored Mercedes Benz, which was located parked on the street near Callaham’s home.
Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker accepted the guilty plea and ordered sentence.
LCBOP Detective Stephen Owens filed charges, which were approved by Assistant District Attorney Christie Wilson.
