If you are not already aware January is National Blood Donor Month and local police departments will be competing in the 2022 Bleed Blue Challenge.  In an effort to increase donations, the Penn Medicine LGH Blood Donation Center is again hosting this friendly competition between Lancaster County Police Departments.  There are 12 departments competing and whichever police agency has the most donations at the end of February wins.  Last year's competition generated 594 total units of blood donated for local use, with Quarryville Borough PD taking home the wooden flag to display for the year with a total of 75 units donated in support of their department!

To get things kicked off, there will be a blood drive for the challenge tomorrow at the Strasburg Fire House, 203 Franklin Street, from 2-7 p.m.  You can donate at this drive in support of any of the participating local departments (although we hope you will consider supporting SBPD).

In addition to this event, there will also be other local blood drives during the months of January and February that donors can go to and support their local departments.  Appointments are recommended but walk-ins will be taken if time allows.
