Long-time Crossing Guards Honored at Borough Council Meeting
Three career crossing guards were honored by the Ephrata Police Department during the November 4th Borough Council work session Monday night. Bill Peters, Ethel Pratt, and Gloria Keller, all 20+ year crossing guards, were given commemorative plagues to recognize their service. When later asked about their service, School Resource Officer Paul Moore stated, "Our main goal is the safety of the students, and when it comes to safety, these folks are second to none." When asked, Interim Chief Shumaker said, "The role crossing guards play in student safety cannot be overstated. We trust them with what we hold most dear, and these men and women earn our trust at every turn."
Ms. Keller was unavailable to appear. Pictured are (L to R) Interim Police Chief Thomas Shumaker, School Resource Officer Paul Moore, Ethel Pratt, and Bill Peters.
