Ephrata Police responded for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 1300 Block of West Main St, Ephrata Borough Monday afternoon 10-26-15 around 2:45pm.   Investigation revealed that a 14 yr. old Ephrata male ran out into traffic, apparently not checking for oncoming vehicles before crossing and was struck by a west bound vehicle driven by Douglas Templeton 70/M from Hummelstown, Pa.   Witnesses reported the male suddenly ran onto the roadway into the path of the west bound vehicle at a location not designated as a crosswalk.   Other pedestrians with the 14yr old did not cross and were not involved with the accident.    The 14yr old sustained hip and leg injuries and subsequently transported by Ephrata Ambulance Assoc. to the Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital for treatment.    Ephrata Medic 4 was also on scene to treat the juvenile.  The 14yr old is to be cited for a crosswalk violation.
