Ephrata Police responded on 2-8-22 around 0700hrs to the intersection of Texter Mountain Road and Peartown Road for a vehicle accident involving an propane tank truck.
Ephrata Police determined a propane truck was traveling west on Texter Mountain Road when the driver apparently failed to stop at the intersection of Peartown Road and it collided with a silver SUV. The impact caused the propane tank truck to skid out of control, over turn and strike a utility pole. The driver of the propane truck, of Denver, PA was not injured and assisted out of the over turn truck by area resident. The tank truck driver was able to shut the leaking propane tank values. The driver of the SUV, a 68yr old female from Reinhold, PA sustained arm injuries and transported to Wellspan Ephrata Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The roadway was shut down for over three to allow the fire company and Lancaster County Hazmat to assess the scene prior to recovering and towing the tank truck. Electric crews also responded to make repairs to the utility pole. Driver of the tank truck is to be cited for a stop sign violation.
