On September 6, 2021 at 11:28 a.m., Ephrata Police were dispatched to a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Parkview Heights Road and Bethany Road, Ephrata Township.  An SUV, driven by Matthew Hill, 26, of Ephrata, traveled eastbound on Parkview Heights Road, lost control and struck a tree.  Four of the five occupants were entrapped and freed by rescue personnel from Pioneer Fire Company and Lincoln Fire Company.  All occupants were transported to Penn Medicine - Lancaster General with serious injuries.  Parkview Heights road was closed for four hours while the Ephrata Police Department accident reconstruction team investigated the crash.  The preliminary investigation revealed that speed was a factor.
