Ephrata Police at approximately 1600hrs 12-27-15, investigated a vehicle crash into a building at the intersection of State and Main Streets.
Vehicle driven by a 17yr old male from Hershey was attempting to turn from West Main Street (US 322) on to N. State Street when he lost control of his small SUV and ran up onto the sidewalk at the Royer Pharmacy Building located on the northeast corner of the intersection. The male driver struck and knocked off a fire hydrant continued forward and struck the buick wall of the Royer Pharmacy which is a street level business of a three story apartment building. The business was closed at the time and no one from the apartments were injured or displaced.
Pioneer and Lincoln Fire Companies responded along with a building collaspe team to assest the damage and sure up the wall until it could be assessed and fixed.
The 17yr old driver and passenger were not injured. The driver will be cited with a traffic violation.
