A pair of young Columbia men will serve up to a decade in prison for trying to rob a man – who pulled a gun on them in self-defense - outside Park City mall.
Tyler Harrison, 22, and Randy Howard, 19, were jailed in separate sentencing hearings recently in Lancaster County Court.
Harrison, the planner of the Oct. 23 robbery, will serve 4 to 10 years.
Howard will serve 2 to 10 years.
Both were sentenced by Judge Margaret Miller and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Mark Fetterman.
In the mall parking lot, Howard approached the victim and asked him for a lighter. Harrison then approached with a gun drawn, according to Fetterman.
The victim then pulled a gun of his own and the robbers ran off. The victim followed for a while, then called 911. Lancaster city police caught them both running behind a restaurant nearby.
Fetterman told the judge Harrison was more culpable, because the robbery was his idea and he had the gun.
