A Newark man was convicted on two charges of delivery of fentanyl and one charge each of possession with intent to deliver and drug delivery resulting in death December 9th in Lancaster County Court.
Emilio Perralta, 20, originally of New Jersey, had his bail revoked after the jury returned guilty verdicts on all dockets. He remains in Lancaster County Prison.
Assistant District Attorney Christopher E. Miller presented evidence during the four-day trial of Perralta selling pure fentanyl to undercover police officers on two occasions occurring in August and September of 2019. Fentanyl is approximately 100 times more potent than heroin.
Then on November 8, 2019, police officers responded to Williamsburg Road in Lancaster for a female who overdosed and was beyond help. It was determined that the fentanyl used in the overdose came from a dealer who stamped the bags with a blue paper sleeve labeled “DIABLO.” The man who called 911 stated he received the fentanyl from a man that goes by “Rooster” and “Bucks.”
On November 23, 2019, Perralta was arrested on one of the pending fentanyl delivery charges and was found to be in possession of 68 bags that also contained blue wax paper sleeves stamped “DIABLO,” each containing fentanyl.
Perralta testified at trial and Miller cross examined him regarding the name “Bucks,” which Perralta said he didn’t go by or know anyone who went by that name. Miller than presented evidence that the cell phone police confiscated from Perralta was named “Bucks’s iPhone.”
“What we have shows you four separate occasions linked by one common component: the defendant,” Miller said in his closing statement on Wednesday. “He was drug dealing on all four days and is the link between it all.”
The jury deliberated for two hours before returning its verdict.
Judge Jeffery D. Wright presided over the trial and will order sentence later.
Lancaster City Bureau of Police Detectives Jared Snader, Adam Flurry and Manor Township Sgt. Matthew Wolf filed charges.
