A Lancaster man was recently convicted of pulling a gun on his wife and threatening to shoot her - while children were in the back seat of the vehicle.
A Lancaster County jury deliberated for about an hour Dec. 10 before convicting 49-year-old Francis Cruz-Rivera of felony illegal possession of a firearm.
Cruz-Rivera, a convicted felon, is on state parole for an aggravated assault conviction, which makes it illegal for him to have a firearm.
Lancaster County Judge Donald Totaro will order sentence in February.
Assistant District Attorney Lance Greene presented evidence at the two-day trial about the stolen Kel Tec 9mm pistol found in a minivan on Ruby Street on Oct. 24, 2018.
The woman called Cruz-Rivera’s parole officers after he pulled the pistol on her, according to testimony.
ADA Greene called to testify: the woman, several parole officers, and Lancaster city police Officer Ziki Skatz, who filed charges.
Cruz-Rivera also is charged with receiving stolen property (the gun) and terroristic threats. That case is pending.
At the verdict, Judge Totaro raised Cruz-Rivera’s bail to $500,000 cash. Cruz-Rivera also faces punishment for the parole violation matter.
