Regarding the progression of Juvenile Court matters during the COVID-19 emergency:
Lancaster County Judges Workman and Hackman will hold court weekly, but the number and types of hearings will be limited, compared to the usual caseload.
Assistant District Attorney Lance Greene oversees Juvenile Court matters for our office.
The Office of Juvenile Probation is making appropriate notifications to the parties impacted by the modifications.
No juveniles will be brought into the courthouse. Video and phone conferencing will be utilized. Parents/guardians and police will be involved in the hearings via phone or video.
Detention/shelter cases and placement reviews will be conducted with all parties appearing via the Lifesize app to avoid in-person congregations.
Specifically to juveniles detained, we are all fully aware and cognizant of the detention of juveniles at the Youth Intervention Center and making necessary efforts to ensure timely dispositions of their cases.
