A Lancaster man will serve at least five years in prison for providing malt liquor to a 16-year-old girl then sexually assaulting her at his city home.
Budha Gurung, 34, pleaded guilty to rape, sexual assault, and related charges regarding the March 10 incident.
Lancaster County President Judge Dennis Reinaker sentenced Gurung to 5 to 10 years in prison, in accordance with a plea agreement.
Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick said Gurung was to be driving the girl to her home. (Gurung is an acquaintance of the girl’s family.) Instead, Gurung purchased Four Loko brand alcoholic beverages and drove the girl back to his home on North Queen Street.
Gurung sexually assaulted the girl when she was intoxicated, ADA Haverstick said in court Wednesday.
Gurung is a green card holder and faces potential consequences regarding his immigration status from Nepal, according to testimony.
Lancaster city police Detective Heather Halstead investigated and filed charges, which also included unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors and indecent assault.
