UPDATE: Sarah Miller was taken into custody on May 8, 2024. Miller was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John Bender, who set bail at $1 million on May 9, 2024. Miller remains in Lancaster County Prison.
The East Hempfield Township Police Department has arrested one defendant and seeks information on the whereabouts of a second for sex crimes against a minor allegedly committed in the 2200 block of Seitz Dr. from 2011 through 2013.
John Dehart, 56 of Camano Island, Wash., was taken into custody in Philadelphia on April 18 and extradited to Lancaster County on rape of a child and related charges that were filed April 16.
Dehart is also charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, incest, indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, and terroristic threats.
Magisterial District Judge Michael Hess set Dehart’s bail at $1 million. Dehart remains in Lancaster County Prison and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 21.
The East Hempfield Township Police Department seeks information on the whereabouts of codefendant Sarah Miller, 34 last known address in Nanticoke, Luzerne County, who is also charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, incest, indecent assault, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of children.
It is believed the wanted codefendant may also be going by Sara and using the last name Souder.
On Dec. 1, 2023, the East Hempfield Township Police Department was notified by the Manor Township Police Department of reported abuse by Dehart and Miller to a juvenile victim, which was disclosed by a witness in a separate investigation.
Subsequent interviews revealed abuse occurred from 2011 to 2013 in East Hempfield Township when the victim was 4 to 6 years old.

Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Lapp approved charges and is prosecuting the cases.
